Review of Plumbs Vet. Drug Handbook
Very informational. The additions in the back of the book help very much,specifically Therapeutic Class Index. All in all, a fine book especially for the purpose I am utilizing it for, veterinary technician.

Great Resource!
This is a great resource for those of us who own pets with a number of medical conditions/number of medications prescribed.It makes it much easier to understand the medications, potential side effects and drug interactions.I feel like I can have a more educated conversation with my Veterinarian about medications and supplements now that I have this resource.I really like that fact that this book contains information about supplements along with prescription medications!Very useful!
Bigger is better!
When the box arrived I initially thought there must have been a mistake.I ordered 2 copies for my animal hospital and the box was big enough to hold two large city-sized phone books.Upon opening I realized the reason for the oversize box and suspect weight was that the books are considerably larger and thicker, and for good reason.More information (all the latest, of course), and larger typeset (which is helpful for all of us except maybe the newest of grads).Everything else is the same reliable Plumb we have become accustomed to going to for information throughout the day.If there is any problem at all its in that this volume is just a little too big to fit in the same spot in the "reference book drawer" in our pharmacy where the smaller version was kept.Come to think of it, the old Plumb spent most of its time on the countertop anyway! ... very basic
this book is very basic,if you have more than a year's work at a clinic you might be bored.A good beginner book for Vet Techs who dont have any in clinic experience.

Well worth the money
Consider this as the book that complete's Mosby's review.It follows the exact same contents but instead of being written in outline form (which condenses and leaves out alot of information), this book is written with full sentences and paragraphs.It reads well, filling in all the gaps in Mosby's without getting too over the head.The pictures are worth a million for all those things that were difficult to visualize.I highly recommend this book, even over Mosby's to study for the VTNE!You'll not only use it to study for the exam, but to keep it as reference in the future.

An eye opening education into improving your pets quality of life
This book was recommended by my Aunt who owns a terrier breed. After following the advice in Dr. Pitcairn's book the change in her dog was amazing. His coat is no longer dark and oily but bright and shiny, small sores on his back are gone, his breathe is fresh and the energy that he displays makes him look like a puppy again.

My Pet Bible!
There is no better advice and help you can get than using this book.His first one I still have, the binding is gone and it is dog earred and the pages loose, but I have marks and all on it and use it all the time.I cannot recommend it more.This book will help you in helping your animals without the use of chemicals, antibiotics and drugs. One of the best SA Medicine books out there
I love the book. It is an excellent reference for my practice.

Beats Ettinger Hands Down
That pretty much sums it up.This book is a lot more user friendly.Ettinger's is good for those in acedemia.Nelson & Couto is for those in the "real world".

Vet Students Agree
I recently consulted with a group of advanced veterinary students on which of the small animal internal medicine texts would be the most useful to me. For the record, I am an allied health professional with more background in human medicine. I looked at this text and Ettinger's, which--again!--my sources kept referring to as the bible ofsmall animal internal medicine. Ettinger was only about $30 more than this text, and as a big two-volume set, it looked like a better deal at first glance. However,this text is FAR more user-friendly, and there were sections that I read right away out of sheer interest.Unless you are a vet student planning to make a meaningful investment in heavy books, this book is likely to meet your needs and do so in a relatively painless way. ... Great learning tool
This book is a wonderful tool for anyone that wishes to learn the anatomy of a horse. I use it with my animal massage and animal communication clients to better show exactly where on the horse they have an issue. It is nice for those people that do not want to see the anatomy of a cadaver animal.

Wonderful learning tool!
I am an instructor/trainer and this book is wonderful for informing students how the horses body is put together and why some horses move differently than others. It also gives the student a chance to see the inside workings of the horse so that they better understand the vet and farrier when they have to explain what is wrong with the horse and treatment options. This book would also benefit anyone who wants to know more about the horse's anatomy. Not to mention it is fun to color!

Nice Muscle Sketches
I wish that I had this book last year. I did a muscle and joint force project for which I needed detailed muscle diagrams of the horse's hindquarters. When I needed the illustrations, of course, I could not find any that had the appropriate level of detail (not online, through videos, books, etc). For this reason when I recently saw this book it. I would strongly recommend that any other rider or person with a starting interest in horse healthcare do the same. This is an excellent addition to a equine reference library.

Top Book
I am a final year veterinary medical student and this book is fantastic. The procedures are easy to follow and pictures are really great. It reminds me a little of Nelson & Couto (so if you like that one this book is for you!). The only thing thats not very good is the ovariohysterctomy and the castration- were kind of confusing!

Useful surgical text
This book contains excellent descriptions of most procedures required in general practice. Good diagrams and has a better orthopaedic section than other texts. Should be in library of all general practices.

A Must Have For Every Horse Owner
This Handbook is quick and easy to use.Packed with symptoms, diagnosis, and treatments, its index and contents help horse owners to quickly locate information when its needed most.Although the book only has black and white photos, they clearly demonstrate how tos, anatomy, and display common physically symptoms.The book also has charts and diagrams on every day equine topics such as worms and necessary vaccines.The last few chapters are designated to reproduction and are equipped with useful information for an owner thinking about breeding.

This is the best book of veterinary acupuncture that I know that it is for sale for the internet.
It is a simple and easy book of understanding, of the way that the students, in the course beginning, need to understand the Chinese medicine, mainly the acupuncture. But for an acupunturista he is also very useful, because it serves as much as a study book and of headboard as of fast consultation, in spite of his size to turn it a little difficult to transport. But I always drop it off at my clinic and I read it whenever it remains a time. Each reading that I do learns a little more. I already possess there is him two years and I still didn't get to read it entirely. It is the book that more has been contributing to my learning as acupunturist. I recommend and a lot to all that are interested in the subject: Chinese medicine and veterinary acupuncture.

A good primer
This is a wonderful text on complementary medical therapies for pets. I highly recommend it and as a fellow holistic veterinarian and author (8 Weeks to a Healthy Dog, The Allergy Solution for Dogs, and the award-winning The Natural Health Bible for Dogs & Cats,) I found the information quite useful.
Loaded with information!
Very thorough book on veterinary acupuncture. It seems intended for veterinarians which may make it hard to digest for the lay person. The theory is very well explained, the chapters on history and studies are informative and the illustrations of points charts are excellent. It lacks on the practical side though. It gives you general knowledge but does not go deep into how to do point selection in relation to your clinical findings.Read more

Excellent reference!
This text offers a straight-forward reference to assist in the management of gyn problems I commonly encounter as a Family Doctor.It goes into great detail about anatomy and physiology of gynecologic problems yet is well-organized for use as a "quick reference".For example, it took less than a minute to find the section on hirsuitism to refresh my memory as to what the initial work-up should consist of.

A must have for anyone involved in basic infertility
This is an incredible book.Speroff is still the king when it comes to infertility.In our OB/Gyn setting we refer to it many times in our treatment of basic infertiltiy and have had great success following the guidelines given by Speroff.It should be on the bookshelf of anyone who treats basic infertility!!

One of the Best Books for Techs
I have read and used many textbooks as a technician and this has to be one of the most helpful.The chapter breakdowns allow you to find information very easily and quickly.It's also great for those times when you need to remember something that you just can't figure out.The quizzes in the book relate more to the NVTE than most books.

Great review for the VTNE!
I am taking a class that reviews the items that are on the Veterinary Technician National and State Examinations and this is the textbook we use for the class. It has everything you will need to pass the exams to become certified and/or registered!

Very helpfull for the National Exam
This book helped a lot when I was studying for the Vet Tech national boards.There were some repeat questions but that wasn't a problem.The questions got you thinking and some of the questions in the book were on the board test.

A Wonderful Study Tool for Vet Techs AND Instructors!
I used the second edition book back when I took (and aced) the VTNE for my Oregon certification. Let me also state that I "grandfathered in" as a Certified Veterinary Technician, meaning that what I knew, I'd picked up along the many years working in the field, as opposed to a formal academic environment.Years later,I used the 3rd edition for the California State Board Exam.The tests are similar enough that I passed the latter with flying colors (after all, the science is the same, regardless of geography!)I owe much of the success in both cases to the Colville guide.
Review Questions and Answers for Veterinary Technicians
I used this text to study for my national boards two years ago and recommend to all of the students I encounter. It's a great way to test yourself before you take the exam. I purchased it about 6 weeks prior to. Each section gives you multiple choice questions about the knowledge you have already obtained. You can then grade yourself on the sections and see what weak areas you may need to "touch up on" before you test. It's well worth the money. I passed the exam, and felt it prepared me. ... Great book for all small animal veterinarians, buy it!
I have worn out the first edition, which is just under 300 pages.This book is about twice the size but has more than 2X the info because the type is smaller.This is the book I often use daily to get me through poisonings, trauma and more.Each problem has the treatment completely listed, you do NOT have to page back and forth to find drugs, procedures, etc. Buy it, I'm glad I did!

Needed for emergency vets
Great book for an emergency practice or just to review the occasional emergency problem. Definitely worth buying. Also, worth updating from the first edition.

Slatter best surgery book
This is definately the best small animal surgery book on the market.I have used it as a new grad and even now as a more "experienced" practicioner.Very good for soft tissue and orthopedic topics, withconcise but thorough explanations of how/which surgical option is best foreach type of condition (fracture type, etc) I'm buying a set as a gift fora new grad!

Excellent book on dog behavior
This book is an excellent guide to dog behavior and, although not being a training manual, it includes a lot of information on how to train your dog. Apart from discussing how dogs learn (e.g. by observation, classical conditioning, or operant conditioning), it includes a short list of "canine learning" rules and an appendix that teaches you how to teach commands, as well as how to correct behavior problems by counter-conditioning (training him to do something else instead of its undesirable behavior) and desensitization (teaching him to accept the stimuli that cause unacceptable behavior).
Well written book, enjoyable and informative
This book helps me communicate with my dog better through understanding what my dog's thought process. It's not a training book but what you learn from it is much more valuable than other training books in a lot of ways!
