5-0 out of 5 stars The Best Book on Borderline Mothers
This is the best book by far for anyone whose mother has borderline personality disorder. It is a book specific to this relationship whereas other books on the market try to cover spousal borderline relationships, etc. as well as parent-child and miss the depth found in this book. This is a must-read for adult children of borderlines -and it's not necessarily an easy go. The author has pegged situations/emotions with uncanny accuracy and puts words to what I personally could never accurately describe to an "outsider". Thankfully I have siblings and all of us have stuck together like glue over the years. I could never imagine an only child having to handle what we did. That's what makes this book so powerful -it is a voice, an explanation, a validation.

5-0 out of 5 stars Very powerful and nothing short of amazing.
I am ETERNALLY appreciative and thankful to Dr. Lawson and her bold compassion. Until this book came along, the secret life of children born to such parents/caregivers remained silent, misunderstood, disregarded, unexposed, and considered surreal or unimaginable. Any words I choose to include here could not possibly illustrate how intensely grateful I am to the author for writing this book. This book has done more for me than words could EVER express, and after reading it I felt understood, and most importantly, whole.
5-0 out of 5 stars True understanding at last.
For anyone with friends or family members who suffer from borderline personality disorder themselves or have borderline parents, this book is an absolutely invaluable source of insight and information. You'll feel a lot less alone dealing with the bewildering world of the borderline personality, and the book offers a very helpful section about the practicalities of dealing with the borderline people in your life. Written with grace and a sort of Jungian-archetype framework, the book is readable but precise, mythic but spot on. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Classic, gold standard
There is only one Hoppenfeld. For what it is, it's the best. It's all diagnosis. Not a word on treatment. But it gives a good review of not just the physical exam but also the underlying anatomy and biomechanics. Two other books are worth getting.Magee's Orthopedic Physical Assessment is a good background book to have on your shelf. It's written by a physical therapist, so the perspective is a little different if you're an MD or DO, but it's still useful.Lots of physical exam maneuvers.Cooper's Pocket Guide to Musculoskeletal Diagnosis is short and sweet and gives diagnostic work up as well as treatment insights.

5-0 out of 5 stars MUST READ
Wow! I've spend the last year reading about disease prevention and nutrition and this book summarizes all that I've read in dozens of books, articles and websites about beating cancer, heart disease, diabetes, autoimmune diseases, etc. I wish I would have started here. It also provides a new look at the longest live peoples on the planet which I believe is previously unpublished information. I'm going to be giving this book as a gift to everyone on my Christmas list -- it's one of those books you don't want to miss. This book would be especially good for those skeptics out there -- it contains lots of scientific data and solid evidence. And, to the reviewer who wondered about the author's age -- i believe it is 67. I recently saw a full body picture -- he's in amazing shape.

5-0 out of 5 stars Such a loving and wonderful book.
I'm not quite sure what I expected, but since I'm only 37 years old, I didn't expect to be completely blown away. But I was. The book is a thorough look not just at aging, but at living--at how to live a life filled with joy.

5-0 out of 5 stars good!
This was a very good book for coursework, especially since the syllabus from BOD wasn't that good. For the boards, I just skimmed this book, particularly paying attention to the end of chapter summaries...I read through first aid biochem, and any topic I felt was hard to grasp i would re-read it in lippincotts. recommend this for boards when studying pathways... rememeber only study and read about pathways that are represented in first aid...and pay attention to rate limiting reactions!!!

5-0 out of 5 stars LWW Illustrated Biochem
An excellent book for coursework in both undergrad and first year medschool, plus the tie-in with LWW Illus. Pharm. is a great duet. Our first year biochem was horribly taught, this book helped immensely, and look forward to using it for quick reference review in year 2 and Board study.

5-0 out of 5 stars GREAT review
I am now a believer.I was skeptical about purchasing the review series, but I used it to study for comps, and I was amazed at how easy I was able to get through the material. The summaries are exceptional and as a biochemist, it served as wonderful starting point, pointing out critical processes- and giving a "big picture" framework-- which made learning the details far easier.I highly recommend the text. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Extremely helpful!
I did the chapter on substitution (Sn1 and Sn2) reactions in this book the night before my o-chem test (I wouldn't recommend doing that, by the way). It explained everything so clearly that I only had to do a few practice problems out of the book before I felt pretty confident about doing them. It's helpful that he breaks down the reasons that you're doing the things he's teaching, as opposed to a textbook that gives so many facts you don't know what's what.
5-0 out of 5 stars Clear examples and straight-forward
This book is terrific. It's paperback and small so you have no excuse not to take it to school every day.Further, it's easy to hide it from your lecturer's eyes when you're bored with the lecture.By no means does the book replace your textbook, but it hones your rudimentary recognition and drawing skills so the rest comes easy.

1-0 out of 5 stars The View of a Medical Oncologist
In my oncology practice, patients will often bring me articles or books on "alternative" medical therapies.I try to approach all of them with an open mind. One of the best chemotherapy agents ever developed is derived from the bark of the Pacific Yew tree. You never know where the next advance in medicine will come from.I tell my patients that I divide alternative medicines into three categories: known to help, known to harm, and not enough evidence to say one way or the other.
5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent Book and very well detailed
I read a lot of comments here on Amazon about this book. I see very negative viewpoints. I take it that these negative viewpoints come from people who are extremely closed minded and stick with the "medical" viewpoint about cancer and such.
4-0 out of 5 stars Adding selenium helps fight cancer
I have great respect for Dr. Clark and her cancer fighting program. However, I feel it is important to add that the nutrient selenium is also important in fighting cancer. This was demonstrated dramatically in a large placebo-controlled, double-blind clinical study -- the most prestigious type of scientific study of nutrients and drugs -- which showed that people taking 200 micrograms (mcg) of selenium daily had only half the death rate from cancer as those given a placebo which did not contain selenium.

5-0 out of 5 stars An excellent strength training reference manual
I work out regularly, and when doing strength training, I frequently have questions about which muscles I am working, whether I am performing the moves with correct form, etc.I decided to read this book after reading the author's companion work, Women's Strength Training Anatomy, which focuses on lower body only, whereas this volume offers a full-body review.
5-0 out of 5 stars Strength Training Anatomy
Excellent strength training manual. I actually own the original version, but just had to buy the revised one as well. Do not regret the decision. This a clear, concise, well-laid out guide to weight training. I've been lifting for 9 years so I'm pretty advanced. Since I need to change my routines every 4-6 weeks, I always look to this handy book to put together new ones.

2-0 out of 5 stars Mediocre, at best
So what if UCLA uses this as their primary freshman text? UCSD (where I go), MIT, and other schools use it too, and every student I've met agrees that this book is sub-par. It isn't as clear as it can be, is bereft of example problems that apply to the homework, has at least a few mistakes per chapter in the solutions manual, spends way too much time deriving some (useless) things more applicable to physical chemisty, etc.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great!
I got the order sooner than i expected and it was in exactly the condition they said it was in.I am very pleased with my order.

3-0 out of 5 stars Confusion
Book layout is overly confusing. Text is sometimes not as clear as can be and needs more practice examples (most apparent in sections like isomers and titrations). Yes like one person said before, UCLA does use this text to teach Life science majors, but there are better choices. There are numerous mistakes in the solution guides still, and Zumdahl's "Chemical Principles" is a much better read in my opinion. I actually used it to clear up points this text was muddy on. Your mileage may vary. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars From Harmone Hell to Harmone Well
This is a very enlightening book that every woman should read, no matter her age.It will help the reader to become informed about their bodies and how they react with and without the proper hormones. It should also help the woman discuss issues with their physcians and help them to decide the type to hormone replacement they would like.

5-0 out of 5 stars Insightful
I have read many books on human identical hormones. Dr. Randolph offers a helpful, and slightly different perspective on the benefits of this kind of HRT. If you are interested in getting a view from a medical doctor who truly understands what women and men go through with hormonal fluctuations, you will want to add this book to your collection.

4-0 out of 5 stars Excellent Cardiology Book Review by Dr. James Thogtam
DR. Chizner's book is the most well founded and delightful book to read. As a former clinical professor in nursing, this book is the only one nurses will need. Do not waste your money on other books, this one is the best. All nurses who practice cardiology on any level, should buy this book. It is a keeper for life!
5-0 out of 5 stars review of cardiology
The book is just FANTASTIC. The reproduction of heart sounds is something absolutely necessary for the physician, but you cannot find real patients to hear all of these sounds. The addition of the CD, with this and other very important features is just too impressive to describe.

It is definitely the best Plastic Surgery text ever and Amazon is great regarding deliveries.I always use their service and am very pleased.

2-0 out of 5 stars Let the buyer beware
I am a Plastic Surgeon and thus very interested in the subject matter. The The Text is actually very good but you will be cheated with the online access. 1. access is slow. Elsevier has not fixed this problem since it was brought to their attention last summer. 2. There is a floating copyright notice that moves over the illustrations. This is incredibly annoying and distracting. 3. You will only be allowed to access the Online Edition from two different computers. What good is that if you work in six or seven different locations. 4. You will not be allowed to export any illustrations for use in teaching etc.
5-0 out of 5 stars The ultimate plastic surgery reference
This 8 volume plastic surgery treatise, taken as a single reference, is the largest medical book in the history of medical documentation. This is the fourth version of this series started by John Marquis Converse for the first two editions (1964, 1977), continued by Joseph G. McCarthy (1990), and now edited by Stephen J. Mathes (2005). The vast spectrum of medical diseases treated by plastic surgeons are covered in 219 chapters broken down into 8 logical reference books: (1) General Principles, (2, 3) Head and Neck, Parts 1 and 2, (4) Pediatric Plastic Surgery, (5) Tumors of the Head, Neck, and Skin, (6) Trunk and Lower Extremity, and (7, 8) The Hand and Upper Limb, Parts 1 and 2. Illustrated with thousands of pictures and drawings, the human maladies and conditions treated by plastic surgeons are beautifully presented for educational edification. This is a must reference for possibly the next 10-15 years for current and in-training plastic surgeons. ... Read more

I am a licensed Massage therapist in Hawaii.I stumbled upon Elaine's book and started using it for my neck & back pain.I was pleasantly surprised at how deep my muscles and spine could be worked while I did two simple things Breath and Relax.Although breathing and relaxing is simple it becomes more difficult the longer the balls are in one position and works deeper into the muscles. At that point I choose either to move positions or focus on relaxing further and deeper breathing to let the ball(s) work deeper.
5-0 out of 5 stars Best gift for chronic pain
This little kit, is a really wonderful and inexpensive way to change your life. Like most office workers, sitting for 8 hours a day, gives a lot of lower back pain and piraformis syndrome. These balls are great to relieve the pain. The only warning I have is to watch how long you stay on the balls. In some areas of the book, she recommends staying on as long as you want. This can do damage if your body isn't ready for it.I made the mistake and did too much of a good thing.Release the muscles and relax into the balls, but remove them and relax some more. This is the perfect workout if you hold your tension, stress and emotions in your muscularture. If you do, and try the workout, you will be free, relaxed, and happy!
5-0 out of 5 stars Pain free finally- I wish I had got this years ago! WONDERFUL !
I have been in very good shape most of my adult life.

5-0 out of 5 stars A book that every opthometrist should have
This book have mostly of the phatologies that we found in every day practice.Even do that we as opthometrist don't treat all of them, is very important that as primary eye care providers we give our patients the proper information about their simptoms and their desease.I find this booh very handy to understand most of the ocular pathologies for non eye doctors and students as well.5-0 out of 5 stars Six Star Book
I wanted to give six stars to this book, but Amazon.com does not have this option. This is the must have book for all the ophthamologists. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars the cliffnotes of robbins pathology
great book summarizes robbins pathology text book well...for the previous reviewer...yes you are correct this book lacks what you wrote up...but those facts can be found in first aid...so its not a real big deal... use this during your coursework and for usmle 1...it'll help u get the bigger picture...which is easily lost in med school...where details predominate....

2-0 out of 5 stars Ok, but misses some important details. Rapid Review pathology is much better.
This is a good book, well organzied with nice explanations. However, it lacks illustrations, lacks questions in clinical vignette format, and lacks important details with emphasis on low yield subjects.
