Great Resource
Great resource to have as a clinician not only for BPD but useful in all areas of practice.Includes Mindfulness, distress tolerance, emotional regulation, and interpersonal effectiveness skills.Very comprehensive and effective skills for many human beings that arev suffering from "Life" Recommended.

dbt manual
this offers some good ideas and approaches but the writing is not clear and it is hard to understand some of the concepts, techniques, and some of the handouts.still, there is some useful stuff.
Great help
This book is an amazing alternative to some of the lengthly classes offered by hospitals, though I do not advise against any kind of medical treatment! Many DBT skills groups use this book as their basis, and it's convienent to have at home to use and keep as your own. It's a tough read, but worth all the work. Good Luck. Jenn ... Read more

Great at explaining concepts!
This book is really a masterpiece when it comes to explaining the concepts!The author makes sure that students don't just memorize formulas, but rather that they understand why the formulas work.I used this book to pass the DANTES statistic exam.

not for beginners.......
This book is not very user friendly. If you have troubles with math like me then this book is not for you. I would probably recommend a book like "for dummies, or a schuam's at the beginnnig level then reread this book, and it will be a little clearer.

Stats Book
I was really suprise that it arrived on time so that i can do my homework assignments. The stats book came in good condition like what the seller described. Even though it didnt come with a cd, buti'm still happy knowing that it's an instructor's edition. I was so surprised when my sister pointed that out to me.

Showed me how to teach writing
I have taught 2nd grade for 5 years.The first three years my district did not have a "set" writing curriculum.We used 6-traits, but the structured limits of that way of thinking did not help make me a good writing teacher.Those three years I tried my best to teach writing with the limited experience of writing myself.Two years ago we addapted the Lucy Calkins series.These books have changed the way I see writing and how I teach it.

These books are excellent guides for both old and new teachers.They guide you through each genre of writing.They include lessons in their entirety and scripts, as well.

This book really helped me to learn the keys to financial freedom. It explained the rules and helped me to not follow in certian traps with money and how I view it. I really liked it and would recommend other books such THINK LIKE A BILLIONAIRE by Scot Anderson and RETIRE YOUNG RETIRE RICH by Robert Kiyosaki.

simply the best for the just plain fabulous and broke

Great resource for anyone who's striking out on her own
This book is easy to read, fun, and offers some great practical advice for people who may not have the greatest control over their finances yet. The one part I'm not crazy about is the suggestion that charging things to your credit card is okay when you're just starting out. Seems to me that you should avoid creating debt at all costs. The ONLY Book You Need
This is the only book you need for the morning session.I took the Civil PE exam 4 years ago, and I have since lent the same book to two colleagues who passed without much studying.I am not trying to discourage studying here, but just want to stress how useful this book is.It is very well organized and if you don't know something in the exam, just look it up in the index and voila, that's exactly what the question was asking.

Most frustrating book ever!
I teach at addiction studies at a local university, and found this book to be redundant and frustrating. It repeats itself, as would a student who has a single thought and lots of space to fill. I find this to be the most poorly organized book I have ever taught from, and will not use it again.

Review
An excellent resource guide into motivational interviewing. A must for any therapist of addiction. It should be the number 1 tool for any educators in handling difficult situations with students.

Kudos for Miller and Rollnick

Nice and Well Organized Book.
I had this book for about two semesters, in college by the way. The first semester I dropped it and finally the second semester I got a B. Interesting hm? Anyhow, the book contains a large amount of information including very nice diagrams and photographs and has vastly improved in my opinion from the early first few editions. What makes this book extremely informative is the fact that it is pretty well organized and set up including indexing and clear contents listing. 16 chapters starting slowly from the basics of the human body, its relations to chemistry, cells and tissues, and finally going more in depth by digging deep into the organ systems and the human anatomy.
Tolerable
This book has some useful diagrams and illustrations.It's easy to read, but seems a bit too simplified at times.Also, I think the editors were a bit lax on the writing, personally.The CD quizes are helpful for review.

Informative and highly understandable textbook

Perhaps, the book is not horrible and it is just my class
This book tries so hard to make social and cultural variances seem like scientific fact. Of course, a nursing text should discuss patient care but not as always black and white; it edges on stereotyping at times. Conversely, if physiology is mentioned, the science behind the concept is often ignored. I think this book is based on pseudo-science at times.
Good soruce of information
This book provides good explanations for the various processes and procedures of nursing. I really like the additional material such as the CD and the website.

Large Print and Weak Content
I recieved this book anxiously, but soon became quickly disappointed with its extreme lack of content.It could have just as easily been published in 30 pages of novel sized text, because that's about all that's contained between it's large vinyl bound covers.There are less expensive books that tell you just as little as this one.

Creating relationships instead of schmoozing
I found this book quite inspirational. Although I love spending time with people talking and getting to know them better, I've always been leery of the concept of "networking." It brings to mind a picture of an insincere jerk working the room, brown-nosing the people who can help him get ahead and ignoring everyone else.
Great Book. Great Ideas.
Keith Ferrazzi obviously understands the importance of career karma. He practices what he preaches and provides countless examples of ways to be an effective networker, build your personal brand, and expand your success. This book helps destroy many networking myths and teaches us that the one important rule in networking is to 'give' to the members of your network. Keith has built his own personal brand on his unique and innate relationship-building skills and he shares with us so many different ways to network, that every reader will be able to find the ones that are authentic for them.

Finally, a book on economics that even I can understand!
This is the book I have been looking for!I sure wish I'd found this book let's say five years ago or maybe $5,000 ago (lol)!Now I'm a big dummie, especially when it comes to economics, but I plan to make millions in the near future by gaining some kind of angle or secret.Mr CR McConnell breaks down all those confusing economic things that have stood between and my dreams of understanding just how money works for years. I recomend this book for anyone that wants to help themselves out economically and plans to help other people out with their money too.Look for me on the cover of Fortune Magazine!

The Best Macroeconomics Text Available
As far as I'm concerned, McConnell's "Economics" is the most thorough and well-structured macroeconomics text available. The examples are smart and clear, and the information fresh and updated, unlike other texts in this area of study. My vote: 5 stars.
Close but no cigar.
McConnell and Brue do a B+ job in this book.However,it does not equal Samuelson's introductory textbookin economics in explanatory power in a number of areas.In this review I will concentrate on just one point of comparison concerning the paradox of thrift.McConnell and Brue effectively discuss this paradox at the macro economic level using the short run aggregate supply curve's three ranges-the horizontal Keynesian range,the upward sloping synthesis range and the Classical-Neoclassical vertical range.If the economy is operating in the Keynesian range or the lower part of the synthesis range,then McConnell and Brue correctly show that more current savings will lead to less future savings due to a decrease in investment and a reverse multiplier effect reducing spending.On the other hand, they correctly show that if the economy is operating in the vertical range,more savings will reduce inflationary pressures while making it possible for investment to increase IF(and only if)businessmen have correct expectations about the future.Samuelson also goes through this analysis.However, Samuelson goes one step further. Samuelson first discusses the linkage at the microeconomic level between the paradox of thrift and its microfoundations in the Production Possibilities Curve(PPF).Essentially, if the economy is operating inside the frontier(on the horizontal Keynesian range or upward sloping portion of the synthesis range),then more savings is detrimental and moves the economy deeper into the interior of the PPF.On the other hand,if the ecomomy is operating on the boundary of the PPF,then more savings can potentially be transformed into more investment,assuming that businessmen, operating in the private sector,have correct expectations about the future.Samuelson demonstrates that in the interior the micro optimality conditions break down and are not operational.McConnell and Brue do not cover this in their textbook. ... Very solid book
As someone new to OLAP, I found this book to be VERY helpful really getting a solid handle on OLAP.My company needed to understand and move forward on building a OLAP solution.This book helped my get a handle on what we needed to do, and a high level of how to go about it.
More than just a great read
In my mind this book is defintely the most definitive guide to dimensional modeling.Although there are some chapters (the last two that deals with process and other issues, the biggest part of the book is solely about dimensional modeling. Yes the first chapter deals with what it is (in general), why we would like to use dimensional modeling and some myths and caveats.However, from chapter 2 through 12, the book is hand-on.
The standard
If you only have time to read one book about dwh, read this one. It gives beguinners a complete overview about the most important aspects (technologies and techniques) involved, for the advanced one this book a good reverece (especially in terms of data modelling).

The American Accent Guide, 2nd ed.
As a non-native English speaker, I found that the AAG, 2nd edition is a great tool in learning pronunciation and intonation. I try to study and practice one cd a day. Although there are 8 cd's, I wish that the exercises in the grey pages were sounded out.

This is a good book, but considering its price, I wouldn't buy it again.

The sad truth
This book is about the destruction of our country by elected officials and Big Business "Interests."
Thom hits the nail on the head in all but this: education
Education in this country is big business and is so hopelessly institutionalized (that is, it has become an institution) Institutions are self-perpetuating.It is extremely difficult--if not impossible--to change anything about an institution, let alone eliminate it, because the individuals currently occupying places in the institution no longer have much to do with it. The institution sustains itself despite any particular complement of workers within it. Yes, individuals in positions to direct policy and command the workforce can fiddle with some things, but the institution itself will go on. (Note that major legislation affecting schools comes several layers above a district superintendent or even the schools board.)Thus, what Thom is saying about "fixing the schools" or "change the way we are teaching" is way off the mark. Teachers are drones within that institution of public education. The best of teachers can sometimes "make a difference" for one or two kids a year. But because of the context of schooling--one teacher, 35 kids, classes rotating in and out every 45 minutes--the young minds are dumbed down and rigidified such that critical/creating thinking is not only impossible, it is prohibited.
Must reading
This book by Thom Hartmann should be required reading in every school in the United States.He lays out concisely what our country has done and needs to do to have a Democracy and a middle class and clearly demonstrates how the so called conservatives now and all the way back to the founding of the nation haave tried to destroy democracy and the middle class in favor of corporatocracy and an elite ruling class.Simple to follow and understand.The book really puts everything into a clear perspective.

Passed NCLEX!!
This book is thick but it has all the necessary info you need to pass the NCLEX. I covered the whole book in about three weeks and did the CD in between. I even noticed some of the questions on the NCLEX itself had similar questions to the book.

Great and just what I needed
This is a very comprehensive review.I know it's supposed to be but the format is broken down into very easy to understand sections.The test and rationales for each chapter are extremely helpful.Highly recommend.

Condensed, but not lost.
I actually use this version more than the big DSM IV TR because it is quicker to find things in.It is still a large book (over 900 pages), so it may not be a true pocket guide, but there is that version available also.However, if you do this everyday, this version can still fit in a pocket, and has all the ICD-9 codes for the pesky billing folks. Students could have this with them to learn at bedside the information they need to know for shelf and board exams.Resident psychiatrists, this should always be in you desk ready to go.Invest in this, 30 bucks well spent.

The quick guide that a therapist or Psychiatrist needs
The full DSM-IV is the bible that modern Psychiatry is based around.The book is actually sprisingly a fair read and not to difficult to navigate. But, it is fairly large (943 pages). So how do you remedy this if you need the reference, you get the quick guide. It is perfect as a quick reference for the diagnositc criteria, as well as the ICD-9 codes for billing.This is perfect as well for Medical students to carry around in the pocket and quickly read criteria about their patient's diagnosis and rattle off quickly to their attending, scoring brownie points.They make this spiral bound edition, which is excellent because it holds up better than the bound edition, just for the fact that you will flip through this book a thousand times a day, especially if you are a student.So this is a great companion to the DSV-IV TR, and don't forget the conscise Kaplan and Saddock 10th edition as reference as well.

Intro to physical examination. Easy and harmless.Liked the chapter summary. This is a book for all health care profesionals. Physicians should use DeGowin or Sapira.

Index Incorrect
The index in the version I have is completely inaccurate.What's more, to obtain errata you're required to enter a code on the publisher's website.This code is not stamped on the book but is on the packaging which I unfortunately threw away before I noticed the index was completely inaccurate.
Save money, buy a used book !
Once again, the teacher recommended we buy the newest version.
