Beautiful pictures, workable ideas
So you've bought a bungalow--now, what do you do with it?Maybe it's a fixer-upper; maybe it's too small, or doesn't have enough storage space; maybe you're just not sure what kind of furniture to get.This book is a great start toward deciding where to go next.Illustrated with hundreds of full-color photographs, it shows not only many of the features by which you can tell an Arts & Crafts house when you see it (I was surprised to learn that the big old foursquares such as my grandparents lived in for 40 years are included in this classification), but gives actual ideas carried out by other homeowners, even unto before-and-after floor plans.The author's advice is thoughtful and well suited to the houses she writes about, too.And if you just like to look at pictures of vintage American homes, this would be a good volume to add to your collection.

Houses, er, too large
There's a lot of good in this book, and it's given me a few ideas for my own arts-and-crafts vernacular house, but at the same time it's frustrating.Lots of the pictures feel (or explicitly state) that they're from houses much larger than the classic 900-2000 square foot bungalow.
Its a keeper!
As a librarian and a lover of Arts & Crafts style, I recommend this book to all who desire a peek at some fantastic Bungalow interiors.The color photography is stunning and that material which is covered is covered well.Though the pictures will be enticing to anyone fond of this architecture, I consider the text to be aimed at newbies.Having said that, the chapter on "What Style is Your Home" describing basic architectural hallmarks of various Bungalows is especially well written, albeit very basic.

Decent overview but light on examples
I am an experienced SolidWorks user who was looking for supplemental information to build my knowledge base and help me transition from SW 2005 to SW 2006.This manual is a decent general reference but it lacks any detailed examples and the CD that comes with it is mostly SW promotional stuff.I bought it because of the low price ($20)Also, there is no information on advanced features such as surface modeling

Do not recommend
I wanted a book that would provide a high level of overall understanding of SW quickly.I am new to SW.I've been teaching AutoCAD for over 4 years.I purchased this book with an understanding of the Dummy series.I was very disappointed with the lack of information for the new user.It seems that the book is targeted towards a user which has a basic understanding of the Software and that needs to understand the changes between the last version and now. I was not amused or informed.

Good book, recommended by Cadalyst too
I really liked this book and though that it was a funny and interesting way to learn a lot more about SolidWorks.It was very clearly written (but not boring) and had a lot of very specific examples you could follow along with.

Written for a 12 Year-Old
What a disappointment!It is only lacking cartoon illustrations to make it seem competely childish.But more disturbingly it is deceptively simplistic.Told through rose-colored glasses, leaving out what is convenient to ensure a "happy" ending.
Absorbing history that reads like a soap opera
As a lifelong and very active Catholic I was shocked to learn just how little I knew about the history of St. Peters in Rome.
A Mixed Bag
I've been waiting for a popular history dealing with the Renaissance, Reformation, Catholic Reformation, etc. And at first glance this book is it. It's an easy and absorbing read, and endlessly fascinating.

Miami Then and Now
Having grown up in Miami, I found the book particularly interesting. The pictures were excellent. I thought the captions could have been a bit more informative.

Miami preconstruction boom and Investment
Execellent book - highly recommended, but get down here and see for yourself - what's happening to the Miami is magical and really a golden opportunity for all. Over the next few years Miami's Skyline will be transformed as builders and investors seek billions in pre-construction investments to turn the city into a the epicenter of the region.
Captiving Photo Book

Wonderful Book!
Great book!The minute I opened it I knew it was going to be a thrilling trip to another time in California history.Beautiful pictures of grand homes, grounds, and other structures built with Spanish and Mexican influence.If you want just one book covering this subject, this would be the one to buy.Highly recommend.

Images of California Style
CSAS CALIFORNIA is one of the coffee table books bound to please not only those who live in California and are eager to study examples of California architecture termed Spanish Revival, butalso a fine gift for those out of state friends who wonder if California has any history before 1950!
Not that special
I didn't glean anything more from this book that I couldn't have gathered on a Sunday drive. Most of the pictures are of exteriors and amazingly enough, none of them really inspires appretiation of this architechtural style. I'm an absolute sucker for Spanish Colonial. There's almost nothing built during the classic era of the 1920's and '30's that I don't swoon over. This book, however, compiled some of the least attractive examples of that style and ends up being thoroughly disappointing. Great monograph for your collection~
This is the latest monograph on Tadao Ando and despite its steep price, its sheer size alone can justify its value.Although the title states "complete works," the monograph focuses onselect projects from the mid-70's to the present (there is however, a list of his complete works in the back with single b/w photos in an index format). Although many of the projects that are featured here can be found in other Ando monographs, the extra large photographs of his projects reveal a new sense of space to projects that we are already familiar with.In addition, this monograph also features preliminary sketches of projects and some photos that have not been published before.New projects that you won't be able to find in his other monographs include the 4x4 house, Ground Zero Project, etc.A great book to have in your collection and so far, the grandest of all of Ando's publications.

Pro/ENGINEER Wildfire for Designers by Sham Tickoo
This book is definitely helpful (would you believe essential) in learning Pro/engineer Wildfire. It achieves a good balance between reference material and tutorial examples (as compared to Lamit's books which are mostly tutorial with CadTrain screen prints and step by step instructions, but with a good index).
Terrible index
Terrible index and wordy. Good tutorial, but not good as a reference book.

Good book, but verbose
The book is good, both for an experienced user migrating to Wildfire and a newbie. The author teaches the software on a step by step basis, followed by a thorough tutorial at the end of the chapters. The tutorials are useful, might as well skip the preceding sections and jump right at these to learn the software.Read more

Belisima
This is a very well executed book.The pictures chosen are perfect and the authors do a commendable job with the research.The book gives an exhaustive cross section of Mr. Popes work and one gets a real appreciation of his talent.The book publisher deserves credit for creating such a finely made book, one never doubts they are perusing an expensive book.The only qualm I have with the book is that they didn't do like the authors of the book on Delano and Aldrich and include some fine current color pictures to compliment the wonderful vintage B&W photos, that would have made it perfect, but this is close enough.Congradulations to the authors for this fine piece of work. ... Something original and unique

Great ideas, but limited instruction
This book is a treat in terms of project ideas, but if you are not experienced in design, it may not be helpful.Executing the ideas won't happen unless you "drill-down" a bit and receive some instruction.This book does not offer that step-by-step information.
Excellent Book for Already Talented Readers
This is a terrific book for ideas all across the board!I bought this book after flipping through it at a friends and was excited to see so many hip and unique ideas.I modeled my wedding invitations after an example from the book and have gotten compliments from all of the invitees!This is an amazing "get you thinking" book.The only drawback, there are no instructions or tips for carrying out the projects, so... you should have some crafting/design knowledge before picking this book up.I would highly recommend it for adventurous souls who want to create something out of the ordinary, or for anyone looking for fresh, new ideas.I've even purchased another copy to give as a gift to a design-oriented friend! ... If there is one book that you need to read than this is it. Get your feet in the mud and find out who you really are. This book changed my life. Gave me the empowerment to throw off the chains of being dependent on paying alot of money for a basic need: good housing. Now I've embarked on a path of creativity, to build a house that is healthy, and will suit all my needs. My thanks are great!

Stunning AND the Absolute Last Word in Cob Info
I spent hours and hours with this beautiful and entertaining book, and I was only barely interested in Cob! This book is absolutely terrific, it is wonderfully and beautifully illustrated, includes color photos of some great cob houses, and is absolutely THE book you need if you want to learn about cob, or build your own cob structure. It is a wonderful balance of fun, personal stories, expertise, and technical info. (And really very inclusive too!) I read both Becky's and then this book. It really made me comfortable with cobbing because it is so well done, so inclusive and informative. A testimonial: Some time after reading this book over and over, we decided that cob was not appropriate for our site, and I STILL recently picked up this book for a good read!

Simply gorgeous!

Great color guide, with only one problem
I bought this book as I was in the process of buying a house.A house we had seen was so welcoming because of the colors, that it inspired me.I really like what I came up with from this book.The only problem is that you can look up colors by paint color only.I had to page through the book to find our exact color of upholstery in the "upholstery" blocks of color.It was tedious and time consuming, but I saw lots of interesting colors to choose from in my other rooms.Overall, I really like the book and it was veryuseful.

Absolutely fabulous!
I Love the usefulness of this book! The way it lays out which colors to use with which and for what is marvelous. Sometimes I was stumped if the author referred to a kitchen or bathroom and I had a den or living room in mind.
Great book to get a Color Scheme for your Room
Yes, we all want to paint our room some vibrant color, but do we have a clue as to what the complementing colors are ? well , I for one have no idea.. and this book helped out a lot. It lets you pick a color from the first two pages and then leads you to the colors that accent the color you have picked. It also explains the color in detail giving you the mood it stimulates, and gives tips on what kind of colors to pick for bathrooms, kitchens, etc.

Very unhappy with my purchase
The information on the web site was not very informative and trying to get to the check out was a hassel.What really is pathetic was the shipping.Either pay a ridiculus amount to get the item here or wait 2 weeks and not pay for shipping.Well in no real hurry I choose not to pay for shipping.The item was damaged and not packed very well.It was taped shut to keep the information and item together.I am still missing the cover and parts of the first chapter. ...
