5-0 out of 5 stars Valuable Knowledge
This book was used in our MBA finance course. Many parts of financial management in this book are useful for a financial leader. This book has easy, logical, and coherent valuation formulas related to WACC and other financial measurements. Certainly speaks real life application - I intend to keep this book beyond my MBA program.

4-0 out of 5 stars Great Explanations
Overall, this text is well put together. It has good explanations and examples in each chapter. If you choose to take the time and do the self test questions at the end of each section, the answers are in the back. Also, the end of the chapter problems have answers that you can check your work.I haven't used the supporting web material yet, but there are tools and supporting material to download.

5-0 out of 5 stars good enough for undergrads + serious MBAs
Terrific intro-level book to corporate finance -- those thinking the book is too basic could not be more wrong: top MBA programs around the country are adopting this book back into their cirricula. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent reference book for all options traders
This book has it all with the strategies outlined in a very concise manner. Not only is every strategy listed with a nice synopsis of each one, an example of a trade is listed on every one. Also, every advantage and disadvantage of each strategy along with an exit strategy should the trade start to turn south. The nice thing about it, is it is so easy to look up a strategy you might want to try without having to comb through the entire book. And each one is listed by type of investor, aggressive, income, etc.
5-0 out of 5 stars Good Reference
A no-nonsense, no-introductory-material reference library of option strategies. Cross-referenced by goal, risk tolerance, strategy type, name, and more. Herein one easily can find each strategy described with its theoretical outcomes, its benefits, and its drawbacks. Order entry and exit procedures and Greeks also accompany each strategy.
5-0 out of 5 stars A great book that teaches
So many financial books are hard to follow. The author usually gives a vauge idea of what they do to make money in the market. The process is given in easy to read examples of what you do if you think (A) is going to happpen you do this (B).

What happens when an organization needs to change (if it hopes to be successful in the future) but hasn't put much thought into what the process of change itself looks like?More than likely: failure.
5-0 out of 5 stars Read it too late
This book is excellent for anyone going through or planning to make changes in any organization. The material is straight forward, concise, and right on target. I only wish I had read this book last year before attempting to make major changes in our organization

5-0 out of 5 stars Best book on interest rate models
This is the best book available on interest rate models. Very detailed. Much more focused and readable than Rebonato's book. More pragmatic and explicit than Musiela and Rutkowski. Not as theoretical as Hunt and Kennedy. James and Webber also looks very good, but I'm not that familiar with it. All other books have only bits and pieces on interest rates.

5-0 out of 5 stars The best book I have read on the subject
With all the due respect to the other authors I would say that if one is interested in a good theoretical book whihc is also good on the implementation side then the book of Brigo and Mercurion is definetly the best book I have ever read on the subject. 5-0 out of 5 stars New stuff and nice overview: hard to beat!
In the late nineties I went through Brigo's innovative work on stochastic nonlinear filtering with differential geometry techniques. I was favorably impressed by results and style, particularly in his dissertation and in his 'geometry in present day science' very readable overview. Interesting results are found and nicely told with accurate -but not pointlessly complicated - advanced mathematics for the problems at hand, I reasoned. Read more

2-0 out of 5 stars confusing and unwieldy
I am sad to report that this book is an inadequate and frustrating introduction to finance. Important concepts are buried; there are no derivations; there are few clear explanations of concepts; and definitions of terms are sparse at best. The many jokes come as a welcome relief from the generally poor writing, but provide no educational value. The book is rendered even more confusing because its organization is wayward, jumping unpredictably back and forth between topics. Overall, I find this textbook to be incredibly opaque, and I constantly have to supplement my readings elsewhere. If you have had prior exposure to finance, then I suspect this textbook will be far more digestible, but if this is your first exposure to the field you may wish to try an alternate text.

4-0 out of 5 stars a few arguments don't make sense
The book is generally very well written. However if it is intended for beginners, sometimes it is too confusing. There are a few arguments in which the conclusions, although correct, just simply don't follow from the premises. The readers, therefore, need to put their inquiring nature aside and trust the authors. It is good to know that these guys are leaders in their field.

3-0 out of 5 stars and the money keeps on coming!
This book really helped me to learn the keys to financial freedom. It explained the rules and helped me to not follow in certian traps with money and how I view it. I really liked it and would recommend other books such THINK LIKE A BILLIONAIRE by Scot Anderson and RETIRE YOUNG RETIRE RICH by Robert Kiyosaki.

5-0 out of 5 stars simply the best for the just plain fabulous and broke
I'm in my early 30s (young), a grad student (fabulous) with a past in retail and nonprofits (broke).I had given up on most personal finance books because as soon as they mentioned mutual funds, my eyes glazed over - I was lucky to make the gas bill every winter.I wish I'd had Suze Orman's Money Guide for the Young, Fabulous and Broke years ago.She assumes the best of us - I WANT to have a mutual fund someday! - and wades right into the mess of credit card debt, student loans, and how to reorganize your finances when you've got no property to leverage. For the first time I can see myself really getting out of debt and, someday, putting down money on a house. Not soon, but someday. And this book has the clearest and most user-friendly layout I've seen around such a touchy subject as screwed-up personal finances. It's soothing because you can find answers so fast. There is hope. The answers are all here.Thank you, Ms. Orman.I am recommending this book to all my friends who are not balancing their checkbooks due to fear of what they'll find. This is a good book for anyone of any age who has not yet wrangled their finances. It is not too late!

4-0 out of 5 stars Great resource for anyone who's striking out on her own
This book is easy to read, fun, and offers some great practical advice for people who may not have the greatest control over their finances yet. The one part I'm not crazy about is the suggestion that charging things to your credit card is okay when you're just starting out. Seems to me that you should avoid creating debt at all costs. But the rest of the advice Orman gives is solid and helpful -- and given in terms that are easy to understand. ... Read more

Editorial Review

The rich are different from the rest of us, if for no other reason than U.S. tax and securities laws allow them to invest in ways that keep us from catching up to them. That's why 90 percent of all corporate shares of stock are owned by 10 percent of the people. Kiyosaki believes it's possible for anyone to move up into that 10 percent, but it takes a different view of investing than most people have: it takes a plan to be a successful investor. And a plan is more than simply buying and selling, or collecting "assets" that bring in no cash and are thus more akin to liabilities. The way most people invest, "they might as well be pushing a wheelbarrow in a circle," he writes. A plan is "mechanical, automatic, and boring," a formula for success that has worked historically for most of those who've used it. Kiyosaki's "rich dad" (actually, the father of his best friend) tells him the simplest analogy is the game Monopoly: buy four green houses, trade them for one red hotel, and repeat until you become rich.Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Kiyosaki - Does it Again!
Kiyosaki's third book in his Rich Dad, Poor Dad series delivers again. This book is a logical progression of RDPD and CFQ building on his principals of building wealth for the first half of the book.Afterwards, Kiyosaki unveals what the reader has been waiting for . . . just how the rich invest. He disclaims the book plainly for the reader looking for the next hot stock tip or get rich quick scheme. The book delivers on it's title from a principal information standpoint, which should suit readers that realize that wealth is built up over time and based upon timeless principals and a strong foundation. The last two phases of the book are extremely well-written.Kiyosaki covers financial ratios, IPO offerings, taking companies public, and of course real estate principals. He presents his information to get you thinking not to give you answers for he knows the answers will come if the action is initiated.Another aspect of Kiyosaki that I particularly like is that he discusses his failures, which should let the masses know that riches are often found after many failures (more often it is the norm). So if you want easy answers - don't buy this book.If you want principals, ingredients for success in building wealth, and systematic structure on what you should be thinking in acquiring and KEEPING your wealth - this is your book!

4-0 out of 5 stars One of my most picked up books!
I have read this book and keep this as a reference when referring to my questions on money and finance. This book is a definite read and its definitly the type of books that you read several times for reasons of referring back to the ideals of money. Another book I reccommend is THINK LIKE A BILLIONAIRE by Scot Anderson.

5-0 out of 5 stars Unique Approach
I finished "Entries & Exits" (Actually, I read it twice) and enjoyed it on so many levels. It was a great opportunity for insight into a diverse group of traders and I was especially struck by the unique blend of methods used by this group of successful traders. What is consistent is the commitment to personal growth, independent thinking, and seeing trading as a business with both fascinating and mundane aspects as with most businesses. The interviews with Sherry and Diane struck a chord as so few women make it into print in the trading literature.
4-0 out of 5 stars A great look at a diverse group of traders
In my opinion this is by far the best of Elder's three trading books. To really enjoy it, however, I believe you'd have to be at least somewhat familiar with Elder's trading style, and reading one of his earlier books would probably be a good precursor to exploring this one. This book consists of sixteen interviews of professional or aspiring to be professional traders. Some, like Gerald Appel (inventor of MACD) are very well known, and some are relative novices to the craft. But all are serious about their work. They have accounts of various sizes (from "small" of less than 250k to "large" of over 1m), come from all over the world, trade different markets, and have methods that range widely, though all are TA (technical analysis) based.I really have to give Dr. Elder credit for selecting such a wide range of trading styles and personalities-far too many to detail here.
5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent!!
I personally has been trading for the last 6 years and I have been using Elder first book " Trading for Living" as a basis of my trading trait. This book reconfirms what I had been learning so far and strategies on this book had further advance my techniques.

5-0 out of 5 stars It Changed the way I thought about the selling process!
Gitomer's book helped me turn my slumping sales career into a blossoming cash cow.I found his ideas especially useful in the real estate profession. The relationships I was able to build with my potential customers solidified their trust in me and allowed the buying process to move forward, smoothly and efficiently. This is the second book of Jeffrey's that I have bought and each one gets better and better, chock full of new idea and strategies.

This is an easy guide to technical analysis of the markets. It could be compared to the Edwards and Magee book on technical analysis. It has lots of illustrations showing many examples of all the items that are covered in this book and there are a lot.

A "must have" book to those who will venture in Technical Analysis.Considered to be the "Bible"...You cant go wrong with this one!!! an A+++

5-0 out of 5 stars Basic Introduction to Technical Analysis
I am not going to write a review defending or attacking the practice of technical analysis, which is roughly defined as the use of historic trading data, especially prices, volume, and open interest, usually visually displayed as charts, in order to predict future prices of securities, currencies, and commodities. If you believe in pure market efficiency or fundamental analysis only, you're not interested in technical analysis and should stop reading right here.If you are interested in technical analysis, this is an excellent place to start.

5-0 out of 5 stars Very good for first exposure to financial markets
This book is not an advanced book on financial markets, but it is a good introductory book. I use this book for my undergraduate teaching. Both I and students are happy about the coverage of the book. It is well organized and well written. Improvements will be valuable in the derivatives markets and risk management areas.

4-0 out of 5 stars Good start
I've used some version of this book for many years now, and I've seen it evolve.I think, as other reviewers have said, that there are some simplified portions of the book, especially those parts dealing with monetary economics. There are other portions which lay out the principles as only these authors can, and those parts are extremely helpful and valuable. This book allows me to teach my notes and thoughts with a textbook serving as a reference and an introduction -- it doesn't get in my way, in other words.I use it along with several other texts, and I think it gets the job done.Students seem to like it as well, mainly for its clarity. For someone wanting to learn the basics, this is an excellent choice.

2-0 out of 5 stars This book insults the intelligence of all but newcomers
Although this might be a perfect book for those looking for simplicity, I would not advise it to anybody with previous exposure to finance.Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars This book is absolutely awesome
I hesitated writing a review for this book because I didn't want people to be drawn to it and therefore increase their understanding of options trading. However it looks like alot of other people already have written there review so I'll add my two cents worth.
5-0 out of 5 stars The Options Bible
This is the essential book for aspiring options traders. It is written in easy to understand language from a practitioner's perspective, as opposed to an academic's perspective. Nevertheless, a run down of the mathematics for the theoretical models is provided in the appendix.

3-0 out of 5 stars A mediocre followup to Trading for a Living
I should probably begin by stating that I've read Elder's first book, Trading for a Living, and found it interesting but not groundbreaking. While it had some interesting concepts and had some great technical advice, the book did not revolutionize me as a trader. This book is more of the same with a little more added toward the end.In it Elder essentially restates what he taught in his first book, tweaks it a little (but not enough to justify buying another book), and then shows a few handpicked trades of his and attempts to demonstrate his theory in action.

Having been through many authors/gurus this is very simply the
2-0 out of 5 stars Not for Short-Term Trading
I am glad that Elder recognizes that applying his concepts to short-term trading, such as daytrading, is much harder than applying them to a longer time horizon.

5-0 out of 5 stars Superb Introduction to Financial Planning
I bought this book for a non-credit Financial Planning class at Florida State.I didn't stick with the class, but I'm keeping the book.It seems to cover just about everything anyone except a financial professional could ever need to know about the financial planning process. If there's a downside to the book, it's that it reads like a textbook; HOWEVER, that's what it is.AND, being a GOOD textbook, the writing is clear and understandable.5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent resource for taking financial control
I had to purchase this book for a university course I once took (several editions earlier). This book is a great resource for taking you through the personal financial planning process. This book may seem a bitintimidating but if you want personal financial success, it is worth goingthrough the book.It will take you step by step on how to achieve yourfinancial success. This is the best textbook I have ever purchased. ...
