Best beginner's book on statistics
If you have no clue about statistics, then this is the best book your money can money. It is crystal clear. An Excellent Book for Introductory Statistics
I only have the fifth edition of this book, but it is probably similar to this edition. I used this book, when I was teaching statistics many years ago. The book is very clear and it explains each statistical concept very thoroughly. A Very Helpful Book
This is a definately worthwhile learning tool which can aid anyone who is attempting to tackle statistics for the first time. The methods and theories are concise, direct, and most of all, clearly stated. Deconstructing neoliberalism's peculiar definition of 'freedom'

Masterful??? Yes, indeed...!!!
Some other reviews described this book as Masterful.., Outstanding!!...and I am just taking a minute to agree with them.This is a solid book. Full of facts and of a profound knowledge of recent history. It simply goes to the core. The neoliberal theory is nothing more than a disguise or a distractionfor taking control and relocate class domination. Why?? Not only for political, racial or financial reasons, but mainlybecause the availability of natural resources ( mainly oil) is going to reach sometime soon a critical point, and then we, the rest of the people, are going to be redundant by the billions...and if this is so, we can forget about financial or institutional solutions to the contradictions that exist within the system or about popular movements, NGOs or whatever other alternatives you could think of...the solutions or better still, the reactions of the dominant elites are going to be hard and applied by military means.... and I think that they are exploring this option in practical ways as you are reading this humble opinion...just follow the news..

Awesome book for TS
If you are thinking of mastering TS this is the book to start with. Do not get intimidated however with all the symbols and notations, the author does a pretty good job explaining each and every equation. A seperate book is needed for application eg RATs handbook by Enders.

A review of Time Series Analysis
The book provides a good overview of the analysis of time series and it also gives a good treatise of the economitric background of the use of estimation methods.

The most careful ecmtx textbook I know
As you may guess from the title, I loved Hamilton's book. I must definitely disagree with all those who find it too technical. Rather on the contrary, I would say. Admittedly, entire pages with greek letters look intimidating at first glance. But what Hamilton actually does is making a huge effort (unlike most of his competitors) to actually explain the details of the derivations, thereby helping the reader a lot. You'll learn to appreciate this a lot by the time you start developing sth. on your own rather than simply applying existing techniques.

Finally, practical advice.
This is not one of those garbage "no money down" real estate books, this book gives you valid and useful tips to help you build wealth in real estate, not pie in the sky nonsense. After reading this book I went out and did a deal (flip)and it went reasonably well. I'll get better with experience but this book gives you the basics to get started. What more could you ask for in abook???
Trading is serious business, although you wouldn't think so, considering the way many people approach it.
Solid technical analysis book
This book is worth the money. The author presents solid explanations on the use of technical indicators and statistical calculations of the market. He guides you step by step in order to understand the specific applications and use of technical analysis and use of mathematical calculations applied to the financial markets. The depth of research and examples is very broad and extensive, plus the examples of the actual programming code in order to create your own trading systems is very helpful. Recommended by MTA to complete the CMT course.

Technical Details for the Technical Analyst
Many people refer to the Achelis book for simple, straight-forward descriptions of technical analysis tools.I too have it on my primary bookshelf.However, lately, more often than not, I find myself reaching for Kaufman's book to get good background on the various ways of technically analysing trading options.He has chapters devoted to practically every indicator type you may encounter:chart reading, events, regressions, trending, momentum, oscillators, seasonality, cycles, patterns, multiple time frames, and advanced techniques.He then goes into some details regarding system testing, practical considerations, risk control, and diversification.As a wrap up, he provides some end-notes for the mathematically inclined.

I have had many textbooks over the years and this is one of the best I have had.Some textbooks I have not even bothered to read but this one clearly explained the concepts it presented and was a great addition to my instructor's lectures.It gave a lot of real life examples in order to show applicablility and I actually didn't mind reading the chapters.The key learning objectives were really good as well as the questions at the end in order to meet educational needs.The online tools available with this book were also essential to passing exams with good grades.It was worth having to buy for my class. ... Short but sweet

Pretty good
A lot of good info.Fills in the gaps in my knowledge of investing, finance, banking, estate planning, retirement options, etc.There are quite a few typos, however, and a lot of awkward sentence structure.Strange because it's nothing that MS Word wouldn't catch. It needs a pro writer re-write.

This is a really great book for CFA. Its the text book officially recommended by Boston University. The style of writing is very precise and the contents are very well organized. The material is well presented. I would personally recommend this book as a reading for beginners of CFA courses.

Some Really Good Points.
According to the author economics is in the midst of a revolution. But economics is always in the midst of a revolution. There's the old saying that if you take a thousand economists and lay them in a line that they will all point in a different direction. Yes, there are new economists challenging the field's traditional assumptions. But that's how you get your Ph.D. in economics.
A lot of intrinsic value but...
I bought the book initially because the economist issued an article commenting it which draw my interest. Quite honestly, I was surprised to see that it is basically a compilation of works, essays and academic papers defying orthodox finance and economics viewpoints rather than groundbreaking material. Throughout the book, the author cites many heavyweights in different sciences to augment his thesis of a new paradigm in economics along with the typical historical retrospective on economics, from Adam Smith to Samuelson and beyond which serves the purpose of claiming economics is locked in its own on intellectual embargo.
Ambitious survey; flawed logic
Scattered throughout The Origin of Wealth is a five star survey of new ideas in economics, incorporating discoveries from science and psychology.Unfortunately, in the end, the book is undone by Beinhocker's unfortunate habit of stating hypotheses and non sequiturs as facts, and his continuous harping on "Traditional" economics (and "Traditional" finance) as obsolete and irrelevant.Also, the book is quite uneven in the amount of detail presented; there's too much sometimes (which is tedious), and too little other times (which is frustrating).I really wanted to be able to give the book three stars because of its broad scope and entertaining analyses, but just cannot do so after a few days of mulling over the entirety of its content.If you can separate the wheat from the chaff, it's a decent read; but if you are not already familiar with the subject matter discussed, caveat emptor (buyer beware)!

Nice book, but too easy after reading SPIN Selling
I bought this book together with SPIN Selling. I read the Fieldbook after reading SPIN Selling. If you've already read SPIN Selling, this book is not going to tell you much new things.
Indispensable part of the salesman's library
This book is a practical guide for implementing the principles learned in the original book about 'Spin selling', however it is not necessary to have read the other book to make good use of this one. I think the SPIN methodology is a most valuable contribution from Mr. Rackham to the field of large sales and this book gives sound help to implement it.

Spin Selling Fieldbook
I use this book to train new salespeople on the SPIN selling method.I originally was trained on this years ago with Xerox.I like the fieldbook approach because the salespeople can focus on real world scenarios with our products and our customers.We break it up into 2-3 chapter segments and hold a working lunch to discuss the content and the assignments.

An excellent text book...
For those who are interested in getting knowledge in finance, this is an excellent source. Besides a friendly theory explanation, all chapters bring a list of exercises to set the most important points covered in each one. I do recommend it.

This is the one & only book on achieving financial independence in my personal library that I have fully subscribed to the working principles as formulated by the two authors. The two authors came with excellent credentials.
some free advise....
By definition it seems all books written on personal finance are as inspiring as reading the phone book only spiced up a bit with neat little graphs and pie charts.However, what this book does is take a step back from the usual sermon about compound interest, dollar cost averaging, putting ten percent away, (you are getting bored already, aren't you?) and address the cost of money as well as the value of money. More than a financial book this is more of a practical philosophy book that considers quality of life as much as net worth.I would recommend you buy this book, but as a practical consideration, if you are trying to control spending, a trip to the library may prove wiser.

This has to be one of the most ridiculous books I have ever read. At one point the authors ask: if money equals security, wouldn't you feel safe walking through a major American city at midnight with a suitcase full of cash handcuffed to your wrist? If money really did equal security, you would! I stopped reading after that.
